About the UK Pub Job:

Trying to find work in a new country can be quite stressful; costing a lot of your hard earned savings, and be difficult! It’s frankly it's not much fun trekking all over to interviews, then having to pay for yet another night’s accommodation because you haven't scored a job yet!. 

We'll take all the stress away that comes with not finding work and running out of money, which often leads to young Kiwis having to head home early. We definitely don't want that!

Here’s what you’ll get from us:

What will I be doing in the Pub Job?

At your new job in the UK, you may:

  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Draw beer from the tap and pour from the bottle.
  • Mix ingredients to make cocktails and slice fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffees.
  • Refill drinks and cigarette dispensers.
  • Collect glasses from tables and either wash or place in glass washing machine.
  • Wipe down tables and empty ashtrays.
  • Collect payment.
  • Operate cash register and give change.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses on shelves.
  • Clean bar service areas and polish glasses.
  • Assist in the cellar.
  • Assist in stock control.
  • Observe work place hygiene, occupational health & safety and security procedures.

Personal Requirements:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good memory.
  • Efficiency and speed.
  • Enjoy working with people.
  • Good personal presentation.
  • Prepare to work evenings and weekends.
  • Good cash handling skills.
  • Able to stand for long periods.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation is onsite, depending on where you are based.

  • Meals are usually provided as part of your shift - sometimes even off-duty meals

What you'll need:

  • You'll need some hospitality based customer service experience to apply, plus a nice photo and an application form (see below), a police check and that's it!
  • You'll of course want to work in the hospitality industry - it can be long hours and shift work, whichit can means night shifts and working public holidays. But this is such an awesome option having your living expenses more than halved!

  • You can expect to earn between £5.30 and £8 per hour live in. 
  • Tips are possible as well which can be anything from £30 to £100 per week. 
  • You can bank on having an average of 40-55 hours a week work every week.
  • Most live in jobs are outside of London - scattered across the UK – a great opportunity to see the country!
  • Trains and buses easily transport you into London on your days off if you want to head there. 
  • You'll only pay from nothing to £50 a week if you payfor your board and this is deducted from your pay. So the rest is yours!. Most of our jobs have free accommodation and meals. 
  • You will also receive tips on top of your wage. 
  • You don't have any other expenses like power, gas etc.
  • Most pub jobs offer free meals, some provide all meals, ie on & off duty, others just meals whilst on duty.
  • You won't need to pay a huge bond deposit and rent up front to secure your accommodation. 
  • The cost of living in a pub program is unbeatable, your only expenses will include personal spending and subsidised accommodation and food.
  • The majority of pubs prefer you to stay 8-12 months minimum-
    (at least)… if you are in a senior position you will be expected to stay longer. 
  • Senior positions or Chef placements require a 12 month commitment.

 

   Application and Assessment Process:

  • We recommend you apply at least 6 weeks before you want to arrive.
  • A lot of Kiwis can get placed quicker than that but 6 weeks at least gives everyone ample time to sort you out.
  • Purchase the Pub Job Package online beforehand. See below.
  • You will need to complete a Clean Slate Third Party Police Check for us and send it to us for processing - the cost is $12
  • You will be assessed for suitability and closer to your departure receive details of the job and location of one or more job offers.
  • If we don't accept your application your program fee ($699) will be refunded.

* If you are travelling sooner than 12 weeks you may want to get our Priority Criminal Record - Check as the one above takes 6 weeks.
