Position: Security officer
Department: Loss Prevention
Start Date: Any time
Pay Rate: US$11.50/hour
Min. Contract Length: 6 months

Description:

Responsible for security of hotel guests and employees and enforces all hotel regulations, directives and policies. Creates a safe environment for guests and employees and protects the assets of the Hotel. Serve as an ambassador for the Hotel while working around the property.


Essential Functions:

Completes hotel security training course and maintain standard of performance. Communicates (written and verbal) with guests and employees. Investigates personal injury and vehicle accidents and writes reports. Maintains daily activity log. Recognizes and reports hazards (real or probable) pertaining to personal physical liability or fire safety and assets protection. Conducts routine random checks of physical property. Performs tasks relating to traffic control. Conducts departure checks. Monitors key access to sensitive areas. Performs tasks relating to Fire Life Safety Systems, lost and found investigations, safety deposit box control, and convention package entry.

Experience/Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds; up to 25 pounds; Up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

What do I need to apply?

  • You need to be a full time tertiary student (course needs to be 12+ months) or a recent tertiary graduate (last 12 months) from a full time course - online courses are not accepted.
  • You need to hold a current NZ or Australian passport
  • You will need to be aged 18-30 years old.

In order to qualify as a graduate or current student you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a NZ or Australian passport.
  • Be a bona fide student or recent tertiary graduate. To be considered a bona fide post-secondary student, the potential participant must have completed his/her first year.
  • A recent graduate is defined as an Australian or New Zealand citizen who has graduated from a post-secondary college/university in their home country within the last 12 months. The applicant must provide evidence of student status.
  • Vocational students pursuing studies at a tertiary level accredited educational institution are eligible for participation.
  • Applicants must provide proof of sufficient financial resources, prior to coming to the United States, to support themselves during a search for employment or between breaks in employment.
