Position: Host/Hostess

Department: Guest Services

Start Date: March — June

Pay Rate: US$11.00/hour

Min. Contract Length: 12 months

Description:

Coordinates front of the hotel operations working closely with Door staff, Bell staff, Key Control, Shuttle Drivers and other Departments to ensure excellent service. Also available to answer guest questions and direct them to the correct location or person to take care of their needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Smile, welcoming and positive attitude that supports the philosophy of The Broadmoor Hotel.
  • Keep consistent records of the activities taking place at the Guest Services desk.
  • Greet guests checking-in, in the absence of a Bell attendant.
  • Direct Bell fronts, transportation, bag outs, etc. Assist Bell staff in handling and storing luggage.
  • Answer guest questions accurately.
  • Possess an ample knowledge of the Hotel and surroundings.
  • Answer phones using proper phone etiquette and promptly.
  • Assist Supervisors with varied tasks associated with the Department; such as bag drops and deliveries. Coordinates deliveries to guest's rooms or other Departments when necessary.
  • Maintain a neat area and a well-stocked Bell Desk.
  • Make dining reservations for on/off property restaurants and provide directions as needed.
  • Proficient utilizing the computer to find and use guest/Hotel information. Greet and assist guests as a Door Host/Hostess.

Experience/Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time and walk; use hands to handle, point, feel and reach; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to lift up to 25 pounds.

What do I need to apply?

  • You need to be a full time tertiary student (course needs to be 12+ months) or a recent tertiary graduate (last 12 months) from a full time course - online courses are not accepted.
  • You need to hold a current NZ or Australian passport
  • You will need to be aged 18-30 years old.

In order to qualify as a graduate or current student you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a NZ or Australian passport.
  • Be a bona fide student or recent tertiary graduate. To be considered a bona fide post-secondary student, the potential participant must have completed his/her first year.
  • A recent graduate is defined as an Australian or New Zealand citizen who has graduated from a post-secondary college/university in their home country within the last 12 months. The applicant must provide evidence of student status.
  • Vocational students pursuing studies at a tertiary level accredited educational institution are eligible for participation.
  • Applicants must provide proof of sufficient financial resources, prior to coming to the United States, to support themselves during a search for employment or between breaks in employment.
