Visit the Great Wall

Okay, we might be stating the obvious, but come on – no trip to China is complete without exploring The Great Wall! This extraordinary piece of history is over 2000 years old, and boasts the title of Longest Man-made Structure in the World. If architecture isn’t your thing, visit The Great Wall for the stunning views of the Chinese countryside it provides. This is a bucket list goal if ever there was one.

 

Spend a day in Macau

Looking for glitz and glamour? Macau is the place for you! Just across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong, this independent region has much more than just casinos to see. A former Portugeuse colony for over 300 years, Macau’s European heritage is evident in its blend of cultures. The region is also home to the 11th tallest tower in the world, as well as 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Located on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island is the Tian Tan Buddha, commonly known as the Big Buddha. Standing at over 34 metres, it is the largest outdoor, seated bronze Buddha in the world. Visit this majestic monument and get that perfect shot for the gram.

 

Adventure in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Head out of the city and into China’s first recognized national forest park, Zhangjiajie. Known for its unique pillar-like formations and thick green foliage, the park has a mystical feel to it that’s earnt it a place in several movies. It also contains the world’s highest outdoor lift, the Bailong Elevator, which stands at 326 meters. Go on, we dare you.

 

Explore the Terracotta Army

The city of Xi’an holds the world-famous Terracotta Army, a site we certainly think is worth visiting. This important archeological site contains around 7000 life-sized sculptures of warriors and horses, depicting the army that guarded the first Emperor of China’s tomb. There is a comprehensive museum located nearby with all the historical information hungry tourists need.
